There was no other title possible for this post.
Ever since I got my new camera, I wanted to picture the sun, rising majestically from the sea, vivid red, orange and yellow, lighting up the world around me.
As it turns out, the reality is a bit different.
I started my day today at 5am, to make sure that I'd be in time to reach the other side of the island in time to see the sun come up. It was a bit chilly (by Aruban standards), and I hurried to my car to get the plan rolling. It was still dark when I drove to Seroe Colorado.
I arrived there about 6am, and settled myself in on this hill, camera at the ready, waiting.
And waiting.
The sky started to become lighter, but there was no sun rise happening. Nothing. I was getting worried, because I was afraid that the cloudbank was so thick that I wouldn't even see a glimpse of the sun. That'd be just my luck, since I woke up at 5:00am.
I started taking some shots, of the sky, mostly of the clouds, which were getting lighter by the minute. The pictures I took looked a lot like a sunset. I was starting to feel sorry for myself about waking up so early in my vacation. Woe is me and all that.
I was feeling sorry for myself and I was still waiting.
After I had just about given up, but lo! Yonder there was the teeniest slice of orange. Eureka, I thought. We have sun! All thoughts of feeling sorry for myself vanished and I started clicking away enthusiastically.
My enthusiasm was perhaps a bit premature, because there was no spectacular rising as I envisioned it, just a small orange ball trying valiantly to break through the clouds to give some light.
However, it was still a beautiful view, and it felt so peaceful. There aren't many things that we can be sure of in life, but the sun will never fail us.
I like the orange ball

I love the orange ball. Whenever I see it I think of the awesomeness of God. The orange ball always seem suspended in the sky creating a surreal picture. The orange ball is easier to see and appreciate, than the actual sun is. Thanks for the pictures.
